The Maria Schregel charitable organization also supports the school in the children’s home. The school aims to give the children a solid basic education and tuition in the English language, so they are able to take advantage of opportunities for further education since they are the ones who will shape the future of the country.
The curriculum is designed to help the children to discover and develop their individual skills and talents. It aims to empower the children to become self-reliant and to develop their individual personalities, combining classroom based education and theory with shared participatory experience and group activities.
A further focus of the school is an awareness and responsibility for the environment. Students, both girls and boys, acquire competency in evaluating natural resources and in living with a responsible attitude towards nature and the environment. Each Saturday features appropriate ecological projects through practical activities in the village.
These pedagogical ideas are in line with those of the Children Center Approach (CCA). Pupils learn social behaviour through games, in discussions and in exchange with each other.
Every evening, a “Learning Corner” with seven stations is opened which includes: Speech, Reading, Listening, Writing, Creative work, Creative thinking and Word formation. Pupils speak in English as much as possible, and not only in school but also amongst themselves in their free time.

All female teachers are trained in the Teacher Training Center (TTC) of Yangon where they attain a University degree in English and a teaching degree after a two year teacher-training course.
University Education of school leavers from the children’s home
At the time of writing, twelve young adults are studying at the University of the province’s capital in Pathein and in Yangon. They are all from the children’s home in Kanazogo. They share a flat and their living expenses and tuition fees are paid for by the the Maria Schregel organization.
