The Maria Schregel charitable organization supports the following projects:
A Children’s Home
- Orphanage for 21 children
- A total of 120 resident children
- 25 €uro a day provides board and lodging for all 120 children
A School in the children’s home
- Basic education with English classes
- Awareness and responsibility for the environment, delivery of social behaviour, a learning corner
- Support for 12 young people studying at a university
Sponsorships
- Started with three people undertaking the sponsorship of 3 semi-orphans
- An annual fee of 200 Euro for a sponsorship
- Frequent reports on the progress of the sponsored child and direct contact
A School for Needlework
- Created for two paraplegic girls
- Further training courses
- Impressive success in selling the needlework
A School for Tailors
- Several courses for each of the 15 school leavers
- Tailoress teacher Violet, also, teaches writing, reading and maths.
- New perspectives for self-dependance
A Nursing home for the elderly
- 12 people aged 70 upwards, either widowed or without a family
- Basic hygienic and nursing home accommodation
- Vegetable garden for self-sufficiency
Micro Credits
- Micro credits for widowed and single women with children
- Aim: to build a new livelihood under their own steam
- A remarkably successful endeavour
The Rice Bank
- Lending in the form of rice
- Start-up resources in form of rice seed provided (between 500 and 750 kg)
- Rice cultivation on former waste land
Emergency aid after natural catastrophes
- Emergency aid for about 1,700 survivors of typhoon
- Building of dry housing in the time of monsoon
- Funding of medical accommodation and daily living
Power Station of Biogas
- Electricity generated by waste products: marsh gas from rice husks
- 800 houses provided with energy since 2013
- Interest free loan for six years
New Ideas
- The setting up of an educational farm for organic agriculture
