Especially for the girls who don’t go on to further education, learning of a skill is very important. The embroidery school was initially set up for two paraplegic girls and is  run  by Annemarie, the course instructor, who receives a salary from the Maria Schregel relief organization.

Encouraged by the success of the original students in selling their embroidery, two further courses followed, attended by 10 to 12 girls of the village. This means an opportunity for these girls to acquire a skill, and through the sale of their products, to contribute to their household’s income.
