At the suggestion of Fr. Carolus, the Maria Schregel Charitable Organization established a duck breeding farm as a sustainable way to support the children’s and the elderly people’s homes.  

Ducks are more robust than chickens especially in the climatic conditions of Burma. Moreover they eat slugs and other vermin in the surrounding paddy fields and fertilize these fields with their excretion. Some of the eggs go to the orphan’s home but the majority are sold in the surrounding villages and towns. The sales revenue from the eggs and the ducks benefits the children.
